Retail Assistant Manager

Job type: Full time, 30-40 hours/week

Job begins: Open until filled, prefer mid-February start or earlier

Do you love to cook, entertain, and sharing your experiences with others? La Cuisine is a French inspired kitchen store and culinary classroom, focused on building relationships around the table. We partner with local chefs, restaurants and caterers to offer weekly cooking classes and feature Montana made artisan goods for kitchen and dining, along with fine European products.

A Retail Assistant Manager at La Cuisine should be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the store owner in realizing or exceeding determined sales goals and target metric objectives 
  • Ensure consistent execution of company’s marketing and visual presentation
  • Design and oversee merchandising displays to promote sales
  • Recruit, train and support staff to drive sales through consistent development of product knowledge and high customer service standards
  • Work collaboratively with all colleagues to generate marketing ideas, expand inventory offerings and support customer needs
  • Ensure compliance of policies and procedures and report concerns to store owner
  • Maintain proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transaction and bulk count as guided by senior management
  • Ensure the store is secured at closing by checking if the doors are locked, alarms are set and all safes are locked
  • Keep daily records of store sales, damages, scheduling, employee discount and new hire paperwork
  • Demonstrate proficient cooking and baking skills to support in-house baking and chef/class support
  • Provide superior customer service, including resolving issues with customers and associates as necessary

 Required Qualifications:

  • Supervisory or management experience or equivalent
  • At least one year experience in a retail or customer service focused environment
  • We carry 2500+ different products for kitchen and dining; customers expect and require employees to have personal knowledge of kitchen products and cooking techniques
  • A strong and dedicated work ethic
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written), take instruction and receive feedback from leadership
  • Efficient computer skills (POS, website, inventory management)
  • Excellent judgement, ability to make quick and sound decisions when challenged
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Robust organization skills and attention to detail are essential to accurate inventory management and quality customer service
  • Think creatively, problem solve independently, and bring a growth mindset
  • Honest and strong ethical character, a kind and gentle spirit who enjoys serving the public
  • A willingness to learn every day
  • Must be available to work varying schedule Tuesday through Saturday, between 9AM-6PM and up to two evenings a week, until 10PM; closed all major holidays
  • At least a high school diploma with a minimum of 5 years work experience, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
