This recipe uses fresh broccoli but you can easily sub frozen broccoli and steam it in the microwave before sautéing in the wok, to save some time.

Stir-Fry Broccoli with Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp + 1 tsp vegetable oil, divided

  • ½ tbsp ginger, minced or grated

  • ½ tbsp garlic, minced

  • 10 oz broccoli florets

  • ½ tsp salt, plus extra for boiling

  • ¼ cup water (divided)

  • 1 tbsp green onion

Directions

  1. Cut the broccoli florets into the same size, then fill a large heavy pot 2/3 of the way full with water. Cover the pot and place it on the stove over high heat and bring to a boil.

  2. Once the water has come to a boil, add some salt and drizzle 1 tsp vegetable oil to the water. Carefully place the florets into the boiling water and cook for 30 seconds. Drain and set aside.

  3. Heat the wok over high heat. Once the wok is hot, swirl in 2 tbsp vegetable oil then, reduce the heat to medium low. Add the ginger and half of the garlic, stir for a few seconds.

  4. Next, turn the heat to medium high and add the broccoli, stir for 1 minute. Add the water and keep stirring for a few minutes.

  5. Add ½ teaspoon of salt, stir to incorporate then turn off the heat. Add the rest of the garlic and green onions and serve hot.
