Is Japan on your bucket list of world travels? Tonight's chef, Thomas Lechner—CEO & owner of Washoku Tours —will guide you through the preparation of three dishes inspired by a beloved Japanese TV series,  Midnight Diner while also sharing about his life in Japan and opportunities to help you experience the culture and beauty of this amazing country.

Our main course is Tonjiru (豚汁), a comforting pork miso soup that’s the only item on Master’s set menu. We’ll begin with Asari no Sakamushi (あさりの酒蒸し), Japanese sake-steamed clams, a dish that evokes the simplicity and depth of the diner’s offerings. Finally, we’ll prepare Chicken Cheese Katsu (ささみチーズカツ), a crispy and satisfying dish that can be enjoyed as either an appetizer or a main course.

Whether you're a fan of the show or simply intrigued by Japanese cuisine, this class offers a chance to dive deep into the flavors and stories that make Midnight Diner a culinary and cultural treasure.

Suggested Wine Pairings:

  • Fukucho 'Moon Over Water' Junmai Daiginjo Sake, $42.95
  • Schloss-Gobelsberg Gruner Veltliner, $22.95
  • Schloss Gobelsburg Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2023

  • Eva Fricke Riesling Verde 2023
  • Sake: Moon on the Water

*To purchase the wine pairing, please stop by The Wine Gallery. Let them know you are purchasing these wines for a LaCuisine class and receive special pricing. The Wine Gallery is open until 6:00PM, so either pick up earlier in the week or stop by on your way to class -- they are literally across the street.

**Please note our class policies at https://lacuisine-bozeman.com/pages/class-policies. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cancellations. Our chefs have worked very hard to prepare for the evening's event and ingredients are purchased in advance. If you call to let us know about a conflict, La Cuisine may be able to help fill your seats.
