In honor of National Sandwich Day, November 3, give this super easy hot sandwich recipe a try! Make it spicy if you choose, or go with this ultimate comfort-food version. 

Caramelized Ham & Swiss Buns

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12 oz) Hawaiian Sweet Rolls

  • 1 Tbls Honey Mustard

  • ¼ cup Mayo

  • 1 Tbls Creamy Horseradish

  • 12 thin slices Ham

  • 6 slices Swiss Cheese

  • ½ cup Butter, cubed

  • 2 Tbls Brown Sugar

  • 1 Tbls Honey Mustard

  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder

  • ½ tsp Poppy seeds

Directions

  1. Slice the row of buns in half. Put the bottoms of the buns in a 9” square baking pan.

  2. Combine mayo, mustard and horseradish sauce in a small bowl.

  3. Spread roll bottoms with horseradish, mayo & mustard mixture. Layer with ham and cheese; replace roll tops.

  4. In a small skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour over rolls. Refrigerate covered for several hours or overnight.

  5. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake covered 25 minutes, Bake uncovered 5 min longer or until golden brown.
